Georgette has a generally heavier weight (normally above 100gsm) than chiffon. It has a matt and grainy surface, and has a higher translucency. 

The tightly twisted crepe yarns are leading to Georgette's durable and tear-resistant feature, which is one of the reason designers love to use it to make ladieswear garments such as blouses, dresses, capes and even Indian sarees.
